The world’s biggest celebration of comics and pop culture is gearing up once again — here’s your ultimate preview of San Diego Comic-Con 2026.
San Diego Comic-Con (often just SDCC) is officially scheduled for July 23–26, 2026, with a Preview Night on July 22, 2026.
This four-day fan spectacular takes place at the San Diego Convention Center in downtown San Diego — a destination that transforms into a vibrant pop-culture playground each summer.
SDCC is not just a show — it’s an institution, generating significant economic impact for the city and attracting tens of thousands of fans from around the globe. The convention will remain in San Diego through at least 2027 under a new multi-year agreement with the city.
Although full programming and official guest lists are still rolling out, you can reasonably expect the following based on tradition and past conferences:
SDCC is famous for huge reveals in film, television, gaming, comics, and animation. While the official schedule isn’t fully published until closer to July, this is where studios save their biggest trailers and surprises for the year.
While the 2026 guest lineup hasn’t been fully revealed yet, past years have featured major talent and legend appearances — from Star Trek panels to George Lucas appearances and exclusive previews of blockbuster films.
Expect extensive comic-creator signings, indie publisher showcases, and interactive gaming zones — Comic-Con isn’t just about Hollywood and TV, it’s rooted in comics and the broader creative arts.
Beyond the walls of the convention center, downtown San Diego springs to life. Past years have included:
Downtown hotels and Gaslamp Quarter eateries thrive during SDCC, so planning your stay early is crucial.
Whether you’re a seasoned con-goer or a first-timer, here are some evergreen tips based on attendee insights:
San Diego Comic-Con is more than a trade show — it’s a community celebration of storytelling and fandom that has grown since the 1970s into the inaugural pop-culture event of the year. Its impact on fans, creators, and industry professionals alike can’t be overstated.
For many, SDCC isn’t just a convention — it’s the highlight of the summer.
